“Writing is today's currency for good ideas." – Founders of 37 Signals

Writing is 'creating'; one word at a time. 'Writing' is thinking, contemplating, scratching, sketching, researching, outlining, composing, drafting and editing.

I've long used the power of the written word. It's ability to explain, acclaim, describe, magnify, articulate, persuade, colour and comfort is profound. 'Writing' featured extensively in my 35+ year career in national and international organisations. Today, I am a 'pro' writer. I've spent the last few years deliberately honing my writing craft.

'Being a good writer is about more than writing. Clear writing is a sign of clear thinking. Great writers know how to communicate. They make things easy to understand. They can put themselves in someone else's shoes. They know what to omit.'

Need something thought-through, clarified, created, and brought to life in words? I can help you.

“You can make anything by writing.” – C.S. Lewis

'Content' ghost-written for blogs, muses and newsletters

You're busy! You have thoughts and ideas in your head that you'd love to write about and put out into the world. You want to inform, inspire, educate, and influence your reader. You want to connect with them; interest them. You need written content for your Newsletter, Muse, or Blog. Stuff that engages your clients, sells your authority, and promotes your name, business, and brand. I can take your thought or idea, research it, frame it, shape it, and ghost-write it for you. The finished piece will be ready-to-go in your voice. My niche for ghost-written content is 250 to 1000 words.

Custom biographies and profiles

What's your story? Who are you? What do you do? How do you do it? Writing about yourself is a challenge. I can write 'About You' for you. I write 'bios' and profiles for websites, social media, books, and speaker introductions. 250 to 750 words, along with a 50 word short-form introduction, will capture the essence of 'you' and your unique points of difference.

Stories: speeches and presentations

Are you ready to go? You've been Introduced, you're on your feet, everyone is looking at you. There's art and science involved in delivering the 'killer' speech or presentation. It's a 'story'. It starts with clear thoughts and sound written content. You're a Story-teller. You'll need a hook, a beginning, a middle, and an ending, key transitions, and perhaps even good fortune and ill fortune. A villain and a hero too. I can help you write the 'content', the story, that will leave your audience 'wowed', and that will etch you in their memory.

Poetry

Yes, Poetry. Keep reading! I am a Poet. All Poets are Writers but not all Writers are Poets. Poetry is the oldest most passionate concentrated literary form. 'Writing poetry lets us get our feelings and thoughts on a subject out, while reading it encourages us to connect and find meaning in our experiences.' I am doing my little bit in the universe to keep poetry alive as a form of expression to make an impression. I have published 'chapbooks' of Poetry, and completed the Writing Poetry Program at Oxford University. As a point of difference I use the power of poetry in other parts of my work and life as a writer too. Need a 'verse', two or three, for a purpose? Free Verse, Ballad, Ode, Limerick, or Sonnet? I'd love to write one for you.

Copywriting

Copywriting is the art of selling something with words. You want a compelling headline of 6 to 12 words to persuade. You want to grab your customer's attention; gain your client's interest; and create desire. You want them to take action. There's a connection between Copy and Poetry: the best words in the best order with the best amount and distribution of space and silence. Copy and Poetry both use rhythm and word play, they juggle sounds and meaning to engage and be memorable. My Poetry craft translates well to Copywriting.

'Language, when compressed, rinsed, and turned even slightly from its everyday use, still has the power to move us.'
